The Caftan in morocco
The ultimate swim accessory is NOT the swimsuit people! It is the Kaftan! Just like the coat in the winter time gives a great first impression and lasting impression so does the caftan in the summer. Arriving in one of these chic ensembles at a beach or pool party will have everyone asking who is that girl?
Black and White Caftan from Avenue
Originating in Persia the kaftan (sometimes spelled caftan) was originally designed as mans attire, more specifically a cloak. Some of them were so precious that they were given as rewards to important dignitaries and victorious generals during elaborate religious festivals. If they were fabulous enough for dignitaries, then surely they are fabulous enough for you. They come in various lengths, colors, and fabrics and MUST be worn with shades and killer shoes for ultimate chicness. This classic cover-up is one of the few pieces that can go seamlessly from poolside to posh party with ease and not look like a moo-moo.
Pink and White Kaftan from Torrid
My advice is to choose your length depending on the drama that you want to evoke as you enter a space. For pool parities I like to go longer with a high heel stiletto. This is because there is no sand for heals to sink into and you can posture with your cocktail and shades by the pool. Go shorter for sandy beach affairs and with a cute pair of gladiator sandals and of course ultra glam shades. So forget the swimsuit shopping drama that women and especially fuller figured women go through. Get yourself a cute swimsuit that accentuates your curves and an even cuter cover-up ala the Kaftan and a have a happy swimsuit season.
