Preside over the Festival of Casablanca is an honor and a duty, first as Casablanca, but also as an enthusiastic ambassador of culture in Morocco.

 

My team and I, through our managerial skills and artistic working to ensure that our city continues to host an annual festival in its ambitions and that all citizens can take ownership of Casablanca and be proud.

 

Festival of Casablanca cultivates originality and invites arts plural to better highlight the richness and diversity of local arts and culture alongside the music (its flagship discipline), and while affirming its urban character and resolutely turned towards the actual creation. This is an exploration of the city, its neighborhoods, squares, monuments and avenues that the festival invites during the four days of celebration. A rediscovery of the city through the arts accessible in public spaces.

 

True festival tradition, the opening show of this seventh edition is a new kind. Until then, the festival had in fact adaptations of existing shows. This year, we wanted to offer a creative festival specially designed by one of the best craftsmen like: Xavier de Richemont, who designed a sound and light show in tribute to our city.

 

Musically, embracing diversity with two tributes, one to reggae legend Bob Marley Groundation by American and Moroccan young musicians, the other disappeared Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish, Marcel Khalife by his friend. The program also Tihihite Fatima, the icon of the Amazigh song, Youness, the rising value of Rai, 50 Cent, rap superstar U.S., but the fusion rock high energy Hoba Hoba Spirit, ballads sounding soul, folk and reggae to the very talented Ayo, chaabi devilish Zina Daoudia ... and many more.

 

The flap is also intensifying urban dance with two tournaments dance and breakdance standing.

 

"Nouzah Fennia" art walks initiated last year, this year take the scale programs with workshops and residences that are spread throughout the year to result in disciplinary creations presented during the festival.

 

Finally, the festival will be invited, in closing, to attend, as every year, a grand fireworks show on the Corniche.

 

A hundred concerts, and various artistic activities for Casablanca, catalyst crucible of modernity Moroccan shines through this cultural festival!

Casablanca festivals celebrate religion, culture and traditions, music, language and dance. Here are some of the most popular festivals.

International Festival of Video Arts (March)

Hosted by the Ben M'sik Faculty of Arts and Sciences and the Hassan II University, this festival is a week-long presentation of video arts during which people from all over the world showcase their perspective on a particular theme. Spain, France, Italy, Lebanon, Egypt, Japan, Canada and the U.S. are examples of countries that participate each year in the festival.

Urban Culture on Stage (March)

This is a celebration of modern music and dance as hip hop, fusion and rap. The 2-day festival takes place at the Zafzaf Cultural Center and, although is attended mostly by young people, it is quickly catching on to groups of all ages.

Jazzblanca Festival (March)

This jazz fusion festival attracts jazz musicians and jazz lovers from around the world to Casablanca in Aprill. The Megarama Casablanca Cinema on the Corniche hosts the event.

Amazigh Theater Festival

The Amazigh Theater Festival is a celebration of theater arts, puppetry, miming, speech, music and dance held in May. Performed in Berber, the ancient language of North Africa and an important part of Moroccan culture and history, the festival gives an insightful glimpse into Berber customs.

L'Zac L'Boulevard

In May of each year L'Zac L'Boulevard, a 3-day music festival takes over the city with the explosive sounds of hip hop, metal, electro, fusion and rock. Fans from all over the world come to perform their music and celebrate.

Safi in the Heart of Casablanca (May and June)

The Safi Festival, also known as the Ceramics Festival occurs in the months of May and June during which there are exhibits of Safi pottery.

Boulevard of Young Musicians (June)

This 4-day contemporary Arabic music festival takes place in June and features young musical artists of funk, hip hop and rock. Most of the participants are young, but audiences enjoy the competitive nature of the various groups.

Rawafid Festival (July)

The Rawafid Festival promotes artists of the Moroccan diaspora and occurs in July.

Casablanca Festival

Casablanca Festival is an urban art and music celebration. The festival spans several days, usually in July, and takes place in various theaters, parks, clubs and beaches. This is an opportunity for artists, musicians and fans of art and music to converge on Casablanca.

Feast of the Throne (July 30)

This is the celebration of King Mohammed VI's 1999 accession to the Moroccan throne. On July 30 each year the King speaks to the nation and receptions and celebrations are hosted across Morocco.

Boulevard of Young Musicians

Boulevard of Young Musicians (also The Boulvard) is a yearly music festival Held contest organized in Casablanca, Morocco. The Boulevard was INITIALLY thought to be a competition aiming to reward the best training in icts own category. The festival first edition was Held in 1998 When It Was Called Springboard for Young Musicians Casablanca (Springboard of the Young Musicians of Casablanca).
In 2006 edition, The most prominent participant was the American hip hop band De La Soul.

On the occasion of the W Space week that celebrates the world of science the universe, Astronomy Festival of Marrakech offer, for the 13th consecutive year, a series of activities to discover and disseminate pleasures of astronomy.

Over the years, the festival has managed to establish itself as one of the leading rendezvous of scientific culture in the Kingdom. Co-organized by the Faculty of Semlalia, Amateur Astronomy Association of Marrakech, the Regional Academy of Education and Training, the French research institutes, IFM, and since 2009 by the Centre Cultural Atlas Golf Marrakech, he has loyal fans like astronomy beginners. The year 2012 was rich in astronomy Moroccan and global we include in particular new findings across Morocco, with the discovery of two asteroids geo-cruisers and two comets Observatory Oukaïmeden, and internationally, sending by NASA on the planet Mars Curiosity robot. The central theme of this edition is entitled "explore the universe." So many events and activities such as public lectures, observing nights at the Cultural Center of the AGM and the stars at night Oukaïmeden, will be offered to a curious public to understand the universe in which we belong. This festival is also marked by the presence of many eminent Moroccan and French for stimulating discussion and to share their passion for the stars and their mysteries.

Why go?


Forget all those bucket-and-spade beach breaks that can be summed up on a postcard… Marrakesh leaves you with holiday photographs that demand further explanation. How did you wind up sipping tea with blacksmiths, shedding your skin – quite literally – in a hammam (bathhouse), and busting Berber dance moves in the Djemaa el-Fna? Sipping a sunset cocktail on the roof of an 18th-century riad, you think back over the day’s experiences and, in your mind, try to retrace your steps. Possibly there was a donkey cart dodged or a magic shop stumbled upon among the city’s 3,000 winding derbs (alleyways), but that doesn't entirely explain your iron lantern, your henna tattoo and your newfound capacity to shimmy.
When to go?

Marrakech is a true “year round” destination. Spring and autumn sees the city at its best with almost guaranteed sunshine and bearable temperatures (days are warm and nights are not too chilly). At the height of summer, daytime temperatures can reach a sweltering 38 degrees C and shops and restaurants often close during Ramadan in August. Winter can be warm and blissfully free of crowds – but remember that temperatures drop dramatically at night.
Getting there

Transfers: Door-to-door airport transfers are best arranged through your guesthouse or hotel for £12-£18. If you know the way and travel light, taxi hire from the airport costs £10 maximum.
Cruises: Many cruise passengers disembark in Casablanca, where ONCF (00 212 890 20 30 40, http://www.oncf.ma) operates a frequent train service to Marrakesh, departing from Casa Voyageurs station. Journey time is 3hr 30min.
Trains: If you have time to spare, consider the scenic route: Eurostar to Paris, then sleeper train through Spain, ferry to Tangier, and train to Marrakesh via Casablanca. See Seat 61 (http://www.seat61.com/Morocco.htm) for details. Taxis from the train station into Marrakesh charge around £2.
Getting around

Carriages: The best way to get around the Medina is on foot, but shiny green calèches (horse-drawn carriages) are still used for public transport. Your chariot awaits in the Djemaa el-Fna, with brass lanterns and official rate charts (about £7 per hour).
Taxis: These are handy for trips from the Medina to the New City. Meters are often broken, but trips within Marrakesh cost from £75p to £1.50 maximum, plus a 75p night surcharge.
Car hire: Have you seen Marrakesh traffic? Spare yourself the stress, unless you are heading to a remote locale in the mountains or the desert. If you do decide to hire a car, book through major companies such as Hertz (www.hertz.com), National (www.nationalcar.co.uk) and Budget (www.budget.com). A compact car costs from £35 [AP2] per day, a 4WD from £90.
